RIP

This "lawn tractor" has served us well. It was bought by Keiths dad in 1981.  We bought it from him about 12 or so years ago. Most of the kids have learned to mow the lawn on this tractor. I tried to find a picture of a younger Jakob on the tractor, but this was all I could find.... it was still about 4 years ago.

Here is Hayden the day the tractor died.... Hummm.
It has been struggling with life this summer. The ole lawn tractor finally died.  (we covered the sad remains out of respect)
Kate has been asking for a John Deere tractor since..... well, since she could talk. This is her at Christmas in 2013 so she was 18 months old. My blog post that day said "Kate LOVES tractors. LOVES them. Here she is on her new tractor!"
Kate has been begging for a new lawn mower tractor for ever.  Every time we go to Lowes she has to try them out. This is from one of the many trips to Lowes where she has to test the tractors.

If the old 1981 tractor hadn't been so old, I would be very suspicious of its death.  We finally had to break down and get a new one. Keith Kate was overjoyed! She kept saying "Its for Fathers Day! We need to get one for daddy for Fathers Day!"  Uh hum. Convenient her birthday is the day after?
The smiles just kept coming. Happy Birthday Kate!
 Happy Fathers Day Keith.

To quote Hayden "RUST IN PEACE" old tractor. You will be missed.
