Thanksgiving 2014

Thanksgiving is one of the greatest holidays.... it is also one of the most over looked. I love Thanksgiving! Last night we made our traditional Thanksgiving Apple Turkeys. While the kids were working on their turkeys, I read the Thanksgiving Proclamation by Abraham Lincoln.  Wow, it sure would be nice if we had a president speak like that today. Anyway.... on to apple turkeys. Apple turkeys is a tradition that Keith had when he was younger. We have done it every year since being married in our family. The kids love it. Keith usually strays away from turkeys and makes a tractor, or a tank or some other vehicle. This year he stuck with a traditional turkey.

Jakob had a hard time deciding what do this year.  I think he decided to go with "get a lot of gum drops on an apple" theme.

Corrine made a traditional "rainbow" turkey. No, rainbow as in colorful... not gay.

Sariah made a unicorn turkey. Because of her braces, Sariah can not have any of the gum drops.  This is a very disappointing situation.

Hayden made the death star seconds after it exploded.

Kate was happy to be given an handful of sticks, a handful of candy, a large apple and all the freedom in the world. It was a very happy night for her.

Today is Thanksgiving!  This year, we ate dinner at my sister, Gabrille's house. We had my parents there as well as my sisters brother in law.  The kids said it was a lot of fun and they really enjoyed it! Food:

After dinner,  we went to grandma and grandpa Cains for pie. The kids all agreed that Thanksgiving is one of the best holidays ever. The smells of the food, eating without abandon, and mom doesn't really say no to thirds on pie.
