Black Belt!

Corrine had her black belt testing today. She did amazing!!  The entire test took 4 and 1/2 hours.  It was a very long and emotional morning, but Corrine did great.  Here are a few pictures of the process. First, they had to do push ups. Corrine had to do 50.  Corrine is the one in the middle.
She also had to do 70 sit ups.
She had to do 7 different kicks... 8 times per leg.  So that equals 112 kicks.

She had to memorize 8 different forms.  Here is a picture of her doing one of them.
A video of one of her forms. Sorry about the quality and about the other kid getting in our way... I tired to video Corrine and not the behind of other students.
Next, sparring. Here are a few pictures of this.  I love watching the sparring.

Corrine had to write 2 different essays about Tae Kwon Do and what being a black belt means to her.
Then, she broke boards.  She had to do 4 different kicks and punches to break boards. She got them all!  Check out the splinters!
After testing, we went to a Korean restaurant for lunch. Corrine enjoyed the sea weed and she did pretty good with the chop sticks!

This is Corrine with Grand Master Kim.  She loves him and has loved taking Tae Kwon Do.  It helps that he is also her uncle! She is looking forward to becoming a 2nd degree so she can get a sword.
Corrine will get her actual black belt, a staff, and a new uniform in a couple of weeks at the official ceremony. Congratulations Corrine!
