4th of July Weekend

We had a great (and busy) weekend. On Friday we went out with some families from our ward and rode the 4-wheelers. We had a great time. We were worried about rain, but we didn't get any! We did however wonder what happened to the guy that unlocks the potty. Why would they leave all the potties locked on 4th of July weekend? We are thinking some one is neglecting their jobs. We learned an important lesson. No matter how small you think your job is, its important. Even if you are the potty door un-locker... we all notice if you don't do your job. Despite the "potty episode" (which we wont talk about) we had fun and it was nice to get up in the mountains for the day.







I know how to really celebrate a holiday. I canned some meat. YEAH BABY. I know how to have a great time. But, we made up for all of that excitement by joining the "freaks" in the back of the park at the local Tea Party. We have been talking a lot of politics with the kids and we felt like we needed to support those in our area that are willing to stand up and speak freely. Unfortunately, when we got there a very boring, very old, man was talking. It wasn't the best introduction to politics for our kids. After a very long time, some one got the microphone and then the crowd got riled up a bit and we had a good time. The night before the tea party, we talked to the kids about why we were going. We talked about Cap and Trade and let them know that if this goes through, we won't be able to afford air conditioning next summer. Corrine made up the saying on her sign. (I don't need to say anymore)





After the Tea Party, we went back home and had a BBQ with some neighbors. We had fun visiting, letting the kids run around, and yes... blowing stuff up. The kids figured out they could get a better bang for their buck if they all threw all of their pop its at the exact same time. This is a picture of them getting it all organized.



We also had the traditional blow stuff up in the driveway. If anyone asks, we have no idea where those illegal fireworks were set off... (the neighbors did it) and we had a great time. The best time of all was dealing with the kids in church today after they had been up till almost 11 pm last night. Who thinks up these traditions??
