Barn to Barricade

Keith has been working on what he calls "the shed".   For the record, it is not a "shed".  We already have a shed. We have been debating on what to call this next "shed".  I think we have settled on "the hay barn" although, Im not sure any barn like animals will ever live in it. The chickens go in that general area, so maybe its close enough. This "hay barn" is where the tractor, camp trailer, and other "in the way" things will go.  Maybe we will store extra hay in there, so I guess we could justify it being called a barn. Anyway, He started this project in March but then broke his finger.  Then he couldn't do much work until the end of the summer. Its been slow going, but finally, we have more than a few poles planted in the back yard.

Keiths very good friend, Hector has come and helped work on the barn. He has been so much help and we are so grateful for him! Hayden thinks Hector is the coolest guy ever.

In the spring we got some baby chickens from a hatchery. Because we ordered so many, we got a free "surprise" chicken. As they grew we wondered what brand the "surprise hen" would be.  Well, "surprise!"  Its a rooster.  I think he is pretty though. Are roosters pretty or handsome?

Because we live in Bluffdale, we have a tractor.

Kates most favorite thing in the entire world is the tractor.  Its cool, and its outside. She is convinced she can drive it by herself. She likes tractors so much that she might be getting a tractor instead of a "girly" toy for Christmas.

If you are going to work with a tractor, you need to be dressed properly.

When you are done working out on the tractor, its important to check on the budget.

Keeping the school room blocked off from Kate has been hard. She LOVES the books. I had some gates to block the room, but EVERYONE kept tripping on them. I finally took them down and thought "we can just keep and eye on Kate"  or "we can keep her out of things".  Uh, right. It was so hard to keep an eye on her and work on school. So, today I improvised another barricade. She was so determined to climb over.

Ha! My barricade won.  One point for mom, zero for determined toddler!
